Decorative Arts and Design Acquisition Committee (DA2)

DAoffers its members the unique privilege of working with Decorative Arts and Design curators to acquire 19th-, 20th-, and 21st-century objects for the permanent collection. LACMA is the only museum in Southern California with a major design collection and is renowned for its holdings of Arts and Crafts movement furnishings, California design, and modern and contemporary studio craft. DAmembers represent a community of Los Angeles supporters who understand the role design plays in shaping, improving, and illuminating our lives and the importance of establishing a world-class collection for LACMA.

Members of DAparticipate in an annual meeting, where they engage in discussion with curators and have the opportunity to vote on a selection of works proposed for the acquisition. The meeting is followed by an intimate dinner with noted architects, designers, and craftspeople. In addition, special events for DAmembers are organized throughout the year.

DAmembers also receive all the benefits of LACMA's Decorative Arts and Design Council (DADC) membership, which include a full year of invitations to exclusive events, behind-the-scenes tours, and more.

DAis led by Wendy Kaplan, curator and department head of Decorative Arts and Design. Annual dues directly support DAacquisitions.
