About the Artists

Try This at Home!

Where did Crane-Kaprow get the idea for No Rules Except . . .? He was inspired by Yard, an artwork created by his father almost forty years ago. To create Yard, Kaprow piled hundreds of used tires in a garden behind an art gallery. Visitors could enter Yard and climb the piles of tires.

·         Create something (a work of art, a poem, a story, or even a song) in response to your favorite work of art. Could you make something new in the style of the earlier work? Could you create a 21st-century version?
