Questions

Try to imagine sculpture in motion! Jennifer Steinkamp's artwork is truly interactive: as kids swing, their movements control what you hear and see on the video screen. Why a swing set? Steinkamp says "I want kids to realize that art can be about play as much as anything else." In other words, she wanted it to be fun!

Would you be surprised to learn that the idea for this high-tech project came from the playground? Steinkamp was fascinated by swings and did some research on how they work: "I learned once you get the swing going, it practically moves itself. I guess I never knew that."
