The artists in Made in California:
NOW worked for months to develop the artworks for this
exhibition! The artists made drawings and models and talked through
their ideas with museum staff to figure out how to build the
artworks and how to make them safe—and fun—for visitors.
Activity Ideas
You can view some of the artists'
drawings and models online. Explore the pages on the artists
below to learn more about their process.
How do you plan big projects? What
helps you plan out your ideas? Do you make drawings or sketches?
Charts or graphs? Build models?
Next time you start a big art
project (or science experiment or book report or presentation),
keep a journal of your process. Jot down your ideas, make
sketches, or make lists. How does your idea change as you go
along?
