Start Exploring!

Here's a sculpture that's designed to be explored with your eyes…and your hands, and your arms, and your feet!  Jacob Hashimoto hopes visitors will climb his sculpture, lift the hinged lids, and peer inside.

What will visitors discover inside the sculpture?  Hashimoto created a miniature, underground ecosystem of water suggested by waves crafted out of plastic, brightly colored artificial flowers, and a system of motors and gears that sets everything in motion. To see all this you have to do some exploring: you won't discover what's under the surface of the sculpture unless you crawl on it, open a lid, and see what's inside.
