LACMA offers classes to adults on weekends and on weekdays. Adults may also participate in intergenerational classes held for students from ages 5 to 105!

Landscape Painting with Watercolor—Outdoor Session
Five Saturdays, September 24, October 1, 15, 22, 29 | 11 am–1:30 pm
Inspired by the diverse foliage that surrounds the museum, students will paint landscapes while learning different watercolor techniques with artist Michael Wright.

Acrylic Painting—Studio Session SOLD OUT
Five Sundays: September 25, October 2, 16, 23, 30 | 11 am–2 pm
Awaken and refresh your artistic skills and create an exciting painting with versatile acrylic materials. We’ll explore the museum collection for inspiration as we develop our work and see our paintings come to life. All skill levels welcome. With artist Thom Dower.

Digital Photography—Outdoor Session SOLD OUT
Five Sundays, September 25, October 2, 16, 23, 30 | 11 am–2 pm
LACMA's diverse collection will spark ideas to create vibrant, online or print images, from digital or cell-phone cameras. Learn photographic techniques for lighting, bracketing, and composition. With photographer-artist Loretta Ayeroff.

Drawing—Gallery Session
Five Saturdays, November 5, 12, 19, December 3, 10 | 11 am–1:30 pm
Tackle the challenge of rendering a three-dimensional object into a two-dimensional drawing! As you practice drawing from the museum’s collection of sculpture you will hone your observation skills to successfully translate two-dimensional works of art on to flat paper. With artist Michael Wright.

Watersoluble Oil Painting—Studio Session
Five Sundays, November 6, 13, 20, December 4, 11 | 11 am–2 pm
Discover the joys of water soluble oil paints—they have the same characteristics of traditional oils without the fumes and are easy to clean up with just water! This class is designed to expand and deepen basic oil painting techniques and color theory, as well as guide students toward the development of a personal style. Through exercises and projects, we will create sketches and a final painting. Recommended for students with some painting experience and a desire to participate in lively group discussions in the galleries. With artist Lisa Oxley.

Life Drawing—Studio Session SOLD OUT
Five Tuesdays, September 27, October 4, 11, 18, 25 | 1:30–4:30 pm
Learn basic drawing and painting skills while working from life drawing models. Work with a variety of materials on paper, including inks, acrylic paints, and pastels in this fun and lively class. All levels are welcome. Taught by artist Rosanne Kleinerman.

Japanese Book Arts—Studio Session
Five Fridays, September 30, October 14, 21, 28, November 4 | 6–9 pm
Paper has been at the center of Japanese cultural life for centuries. Explore the exhibition Washi Tales and learn hands-on the art of papermaking, origami paper folding, simple book binding, and printmaking in the studio using Japanese techniques. With artist Peggy Hasegawa.

Impressionistic Japanese Watercolor—Studio Session
Five Fridays, November 4, 18, December 2, 9, 16 | 6–8:30 pm
Create paintings that capture the essence of this luminous and softly colored medium taught by Hisako Asano. Participants will learn Japanese brush-painting techniques and how to create three-dimensional images with a single stroke.

Refunds will only be granted if the class is canceled. Refunds cannot be given in the case of a missed class or if you elect to withdraw from the class after it has begun.
