Anthony & Jeanne Pritzker Family Foundation Docent School Program

Increase students’ powers of perception and stimulate interest in the visual arts and our multicultural heritage. School tours are led by LACMA's trained art docents, who engage students in active looking and discussion focusing on a select number of works in the collection. Tours are aligned with state content standards for history/social science and language arts and the new core curriculum.

Self-Guided Visits


Admission is free with proper identification from a qualifying institution or organization. Teacher-led tour times can be scheduled every half-hour starting at 12pm during the weekday and 11am on weekends. The museum is closed on Wednesdays. Each of the collection tickets provides entrance to all galleries with the exception of special exhibitions. Group admission is limited to 60 people every half-hour (includes students and chaperones) for BCAM and special exhibitions. Entry to the collection is limited to 80 people every half-hour. School groups may stay in the museum until closing. If you are an Alumnus, Emeritus or Extended Learning group, please contact group sales for ticket prices and additional information.

College Groups

College students working towards a degree will receive complimentary admission, excluding specially-ticketed exhibitions, when accompanied by their instructor. Tickets can be reserved by using the link below or calling the box office. Instructors must be prepared to show ID from their college or university and to sign a letter of compliance at the box office. A copy of the museum rules and regulations can be found here. Scout and After School Groups

Camp and Scout leaders will receive complimentary admission for children and adult chaperones, excluding specially-ticketed exhibitions. Students should be divided into groups of 10 with at least 1 adult. Chaperones must remain with their group at all times. Group leaders should be prepared to sign a letter of compliance at the box office. A copy of the museum rules and regulations can be found here. Special request tours


With advance notice and depending on availability, special tours of galleries and exhibitions may be arranged. Special tours are offered during public hours only (12 pm–4:30 pm during the weekday and 11 am–4:30 pm during the weekend).
