Afro-American Chamber Music Society Orchestra
"The orchestra played together with joy," wrote the Los Angeles Times. Sundays Live presents the nationally acclaimed Afro-American Chamber Music Society Orchestra (AACMSO) with conductor Janise White. Founded in 1987, AACMSO has revived and premiered works by over 200 composers. The orchestra performed for radio and television, including KFAC's Sundays at Six; KUSC's Sundays at Four; and KPFK's Music in Black. Additionallly, they appeared with Richard Smallwood, Alex Haley, Garrett Morris, and with conductors Michael Morgan, Kermit Moore, and Denis de Couteau. AACMSO is listed in the Bibliography of Black Composers by Dr. Rene de Lerma, Brass Music of Black Composers by Aaron Horne, and the International Dictionary of Black Composers by Samuel Floyd, Jr.
