Cassavetes' Shadow: Film Independent Spirit Awards Nominee Discussion and Screening
The John Cassavetes Award, presented at the Film Independent Spirit Awards since 2002, is a distinction reserved for filmmakers who have delivered films on a budget of less than half a million dollars. Past winners include movies as disparate as The Blair Witch Project and The Station Agent. The 2012 John Cassettes Award nominees discuss how they managed to bring their dreams to the big screen, a lesson in every type of creativity in this difficult economic climate. Following the discussion, we will screen Shadows, the writing and directing debut of the man who changed the independent film landscape and after whom the award is named—John Cassavetes.
