Tony and Emmy Award–winning actress Glenn Close discusses her ambitious and fascinating career path through film, television, and stage. A quick glance at her work to date reveals her range—from the wryly predatory Patty Hewes in the current television series Damages to the watchful Mona, Homer Simpson’s mom on The Simpsons, to the compellingly deluded Norma Desmond in the Broadway production of Sunset Boulevard to the demure but wary Charity Barnum in the musical Barnum. Her film roles are as varied as The World According to Garp (earning an Oscar nomination for her film debut) and the big-screen realization of one of her stage characters in her latest, Albert Nobbs.
