The Crossroads Chamber Orchestra (Alexander Treger Conducting)

Sunday, May 18, 2014 | 6 pm

LACMA presents a performance by Elizabeth Mandell Music Institute at Crossroads School of Santa Monica, conducted by Alexander Treger.

Alexander Treger began his musical training at the age of five in his native Russia, and was later chosen by renowned violinist David Oistrakh to study at the Moscow Conservatory. Treger has served as concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 1985, and has guest-conducted with the Guangzhou Orchestra in China, California’s Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra, the New World Symphony, and the Moscow State Orchestra. In addition, he has served as Music Director of the American Youth Symphony since 1998. He was appointed the music director/conductor of the Crossroads Chamber Orchestra in 1993.

The Elizabeth Mandell Music Institute (EMMI) evolved from Crossroads' unique music major program, instituted in 1978 by the Elizabeth Heller Mandell family and the Clarence E. Heller Foundation in honor and memory of Elizabeth Heller Mandell, a trustee of Crossroads and a supporter of the arts in Los Angeles.

The program includes works to be announced.

Presented as part of LACMA's Sundays Live, a chamber music series. Check out the full schedule of upcoming concerts.
