Die Another Day
In this 2002 edition of the series, the film’s opening credit sequence deviates from the sexually charged acrobatics that had become the Bond films' tradition. Pierce Brosnan's 007’s daring and skill aren't enough to keep him from being captured in a pre-credits narrative—the opening credits feature the spy being tortured while interned in a North Korean prison. The narrative of the film deals with Bond trying to capture Zao (Rick Yune), the man responsible for Bond’s imprisonment, and his partner, Graves (Toby Stephens), with the assistance of NSA operative Jinx Johnson (Halle Berry). What’s just as important for 007 is that he recaptures the faith of MI6, which sees him as damaged goods.
