The Seventh Annual Distinguished Lecture on South and Southeast Asian Art

Saturday, March 2, 2013 | 2 pm

Robert Brown, professor of Indian and Southeast Asian art history at UCLA and curator of South and Southeast Asian art at LACMA, presents "Masterpieces: The Remarkable Sculpture of Ancient Cambodia." Some of the world's finest sculpture was made in ancient Cambodia in the sixth through the ninth centuries. These works of art appear to be fully developed, without any clear predecessors, and in a consistent Khmer style. This lecture explores the enigma and the amazing artistic accomplishment of these incredible works.
