Talk: Gallery Course—Picasso and Modern Art

8:30 am | Sat, January 26, 2019
Brown Auditorium

Pablo Picasso, considered the indisputable genius of 20th century art, stands among the greatest innovators in all of art history. In one way or another, most every cultural tradition—European, Asian, African, ancient, academic—intersected with or influenced his practice, and vice versa. In this gallery course, director of adult programs Mary Lenihan offers an introduction that covers the arc of Picasso's life and the multiple styles he originated. Guests will then move into the galleries to examine many works up close in the museum's permanent collection galleries.
