Goldeneye
This second film of the Bond double feature features another series of firsts: Pierce Brosnan, the first actor to grow up wanting to play 007, made his debut in director Martin Campbell’s initial assaying of the legendary superspy, which added another element that can still be seen in the films—Dame Judi Dench as M. In this film with a demeanor—and a 007—that are bracingly brisk and acerbic, Bond copes with the post–Cold War world of espionage as he chases a nuclear device that may be used against London and, eventually, the world.
