Jazz at LACMA celebrates the opening of its 20th season with Grammy Award winning bassist/composer/bandleader John Clayton and his son, pianist Gerald Clayton, a 2-time Grammy Award nominee. As a testament to John’s immense talent, he served as the Artistic Director of Jazz for the Los Angeles Philharmonic from 1999 through 2001 and has written for Diana Krall, DeeDee Bridgewater, Natalie Cole, Queen Latifah and many others. The New York Timeshas saluted Gerald’s “Oscar-Peterson like style” and “huge, authoritative presence” and Down Beat Magazine’s 2008 Readers’ Poll named him one of the top up-and-coming pianists to watch.
