LACMA and the Los Angeles Jazz Society are proud to present legendary saxophonist and composer, Wayne Shorter, with the third annual L.A. Jazz Treasure Award. As part of the museum's renowned Jazz at LACMA series, the evening will salute one of the most significant and prolific performers and composers in jazz and modern music. Shorter, an NEA Jazz Master recipient, was an integral part of Miles Davis's band from 1964-1970, co-founder of the premier fusion group Weather Report, and composer of such jazz classics as "Footprints," "E.S.P." and "Nefertiti." Opening the concert will be a New Talent quartet including winners from the LA Jazz Society’s Shelley Manne New Talent Award, led by Chloe Feoranzo.
