Film Independent at LACMA's celebration of Paramount Pictures' centennial continues with two films directed by Sidney J. Furie that feature Richard Pryor teamed with Billy Dee Williams. The first  is Lady Sings the Blues (1972), a Billie Holiday biopic starring Diana Ross and Williams, which introduced Pryor to mainstream audiences.
