The Director’s Series: Michael Govan and Artist Stephen Prina in Conversation Followed by a Film Screening

Saturday, April 27, 2013 | 12 pm

Michael Govan, LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director, talks with artist Stephen Prina about his work and the exhibition Stephen Prina: As He Remembered It, which is on view through August 4. Following the conversation, LACMA will screen Stephen Prina’s film The Way He Always Wanted It II (27 min., 19 sec.), which belongs to a constellation of works under the same name (photographs, watercolors, a video installation, and an unrealized sound installation from 1979). The film tracks its way through the domestic interior and snowy exterior of architect Bruce Goff’s 1947 Ford House in Aurora, Illinois, with a score that Prina arranged and performed from fragments of Goff’s own musical compositions and private correspondence.
