Talk: Michael Govan and Theaster Gates

7:30 pm | Tue, December 18, 2018

BCAM, Level 3

Standby Only

Join LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director, Michael Govan, and artist and urban planner, Theaster Gates, for an exhibition walk-through of Rauschenberg: The 1/4 Mile, on view at LACMA until June 9, 2019. Govan and Gates explore Robert Rauschenberg’s artistic practice through his varied and expansive work, The 1/4 Mile or 2 Furlong Piece (1981–98). Encompassing the broad scope of Rauschenberg’s work in its 190 panels, The 1/4 Mile forms the basis of a discussion on the impact Rauschenberg had on Gates himself, as well as art of the 20th and 21st centuries.
