Canceled: Children’s Author Mina Javaherbin
Sunday, July 17, 2011 | 3 pm
A children’s book based on a Persian poem by Rumi is a perfect introduction to the culture, literature, and history of the Middle East. Visit LACMA to hear Mina Javaherbin read from The Secret Message, about a parrot longing for freedom from his golden cage. Will he ever escape? Javaherbin was born and raised in Iran and writes poetry, prose and screenplays—as well as children’s books. Her earliest stories were created before she could write and were about insects, flowers, wheels, clouds, and the garden wall. A book signing for The Secret Message will follow this event.
