Eclipse String Quartet & Vocalist Perla Batalla

In celebration of LACMA’s exhibition In Wonderland: The Surrealist Adventures of Women Artists in Mexico and the United States, the Eclipse String Quartet will be performing works by Ruth Crawford Seeger and Meredith Monk. The Eclipse Quartet is an ensemble dedicated to the music of twentieth-century and present-day composers made up of four women with strong backgrounds in international chamber music performance, new music, and recording. Vocalist Perla Batalla will perform in the second half, finishing with a newly commissioned song composed by Ms. Batalla for voice and the Eclipse Quartet. First known to music fans through her work with Leonard Cohen, Ms. Batalla has garnered an international following with her acclaimed recordings, world tours, and collaborations.
