1983, 115 minutes, PG-13
Directed by Charles Burnett; with Everett Silas, Jessie Holme, and Gaye Shannon-Burnett

Set in 1980s South Los Angeles, a passive, 30-year-old son of a dry-cleaning family business must make a moral decision: does he side with loyalties toward his best friend, recently released from prison, or his bourgeois lawyer brother? Examining notions of upward mobility and working-class poverty, this tender, tragicomic portrait of ties and values in the black community is the second feature film of director Charles Burnett.
