Off-Site: Opening-Night Celebration

Friday, June 27, 2014 | 6 pm

The Inglewood Art + Film Lab debuts with a special opening party! Learn more about the Art+Film Lab’s free programs, enjoy live music by Buyepongo, and see a special screening of all ages-friendly animated shorts.

Norwalk-based Buyepongo creates vibrant polyrhythmic sounds by seamlessly fusing merengue, punta, and cumbia. The group's pulse and power is built around the drum and guacharaca (pronounced: wah cha rah ca). Infinitely danceable, their upbeat, tropical music has roots in the rhythms of Colombia, Haiti, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and Dominican Republic, and the Garifuna culture of the Caribbean.

Presented by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in collaboration with the City of Inglewood Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services.
