Thomas is a nerd on his Coeur D’Alene reservation, wearing oversize glasses and telling everyone stories no one wants to hear. Victor is an angry, sport-playing young man whose father Arnold has just passed. The two embark on a road trip from Idaho to Phoenix to return Arnold’s ashes to the reservation. Their relationship to each other and to Victor’s dad provides the engaging narrative, adapted by Sherman Alexie from his book, The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. A powerful debut from director Chris Eyre, considered “the preeminent Native American filmmaker of his time” by People magazine.
