Korean Tea Ceremony

Yi Youngmi demonstrates the art of the Korean tea ceremony, which emphasizes the virtue of maintaining modesty, achieving harmony with nature, and respecting propriety. Yi is director of the Arizona and California branches of the Myungwon Cultural Foundation. The Myungwon Cultural Foundation strives to preserve, restore, and promote Korean traditional tea culture and ceremonies.

This tea ceremony is part of Korea Day celebrating the exhibition Treasures from Korea: Arts and Culture of the Joseon Dynasty, 1392–1910. The day also includes a lecture by art historian Song-mi Yi and a concert with Ahn Sook Sun, one of the living cultural assets of South Korea.
