Tour the exhibition Expressionism in Germany and France: From Van Gogh to Kandinsky, which draws on recent scholarship to explore the exchange between French and German artists who were inspired by Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, and Paul Cézanne. This generation of artists—Henri Matisse, Raoul Dufy, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Emil Nolde, Franz Marc, Wassily Kandinsky, and Gabriele Münter, among others—worked in a style known as Fauvism or Expressionism, which made use of vivid colors to forge a new art.
