Gallery Course: Japanese Zen Painting

Join LACMA educator Kristin Bengtson for an inside look at Japanese Zen painting. Learn about the most influential Zen artist of the Edo period Hakuin Ekaku (1685-1768) and discover how he invented a new visual language for his religion. The session begins with a slide lecture followed by a private gallery tour of the exhibition The Sound of One Hand: Paintings and Calligraphy by Zen Master Hakuin.
