Building for the Future

Along with LACMA's physical growth, the growth of the endowment is critical to the health of all museum programs and initiatives, ensuring a stable source of funding that does not need to be raised each year as part of the museum’s operating budget.

LACMA is determined to cover the skyrocketing costs of doing business (insurance, security and shipping) with as little burden as possible on its visitors. Though LACMA receives an annual allocation from the County of Los Angeles, in no way does this cover the escalating costs of operating a museum. In addition to any capital improvements, LACMA needs a dramatic increase in its endowment to meet the basic needs of its growing annual costs.

Transformation: The LACMA Campaign will provide indispensable annual operating and programmatic support to LACMA through an increased endowment. The rewards will be fiscal strength, flexibility, and increased access to LACMA and its programs for the entire community.
