The Art of the Middle East Council supports a department whose collections extend from the fourth millennium BC to the present day, while the art of the Islamic period represents one of the most significant such collections in the world. Council activities include special members-only lectures by scholars, behind-the-scenes tours of storerooms and proposed acquisitions, curator-led walkthroughs of the permanent collection and special exhibitions, exclusive receptions, and exciting travel opportunities to such far-flung locations as Turkey, Iran, and the Persian Gulf States.
