Each year, a distinguished group of donors contributes directly to the enrichment of LACMA’s permanent collection through participation in the Collectors Committee. Members contribute $15,000, or $30,000 for Benefactor Level membership. We also have a wonderful opportunity for those 40 and younger with an introductory membership for $5,000. All membership money will go directly to a pooled fund that gives Collectors Committee members the privilege of helping make acquisitions for the museum.

Among the benefits that Collectors Committee members enjoy are behind-the-scenes workshops, an exclusive cocktail reception and private collection viewing, and informative presentations about the works of art proposed for acquisition, all culminating in an exciting gala dinner and voting. Through a series of ballots, works chosen by the members become part of LACMA’s permanent collection. Members often contribute additional funds at the evening gala to purchase works of art for the collection.

During the twenty-one years of the Collectors Committee’s existence, and thanks to the generosity of all of our members, the Collectors Committee has provided the museum 141 works of art, with purchases totaling more than $12.7 million. Today the overall value of these works is estimated at more than $52 million.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Collectors Committee, or would like more information, please contact Diana Veach, Director of Gift Planning, at 323.857.6207 or dveach@lacma.org.
