Members: Art 101: Introduction to Chagall

9:30 am | Sat, December 9, 2017
Bing Theater

Marc Chagall, one of the 20th century's most important artists, spent his life creating beautiful paintings, but like many other artists of his time, he also designed costumes and stage settings for opera and ballet.

In this talk, LACMA's director of adult programs Mary Lenihan will trace the artist's roots as he left Russia, settled in Paris, fled to America, and returned to post-war Paris, all the while incorporating his roots in Russian folk culture and his deep love of music into his work.

After the lecture, visit Chagall: Fantasies for the Stage.
