Revolution & Rebellion: Political Activism in 20th-Century Art

The quiet setting of a museum gallery sometimes belies the political passion and activism of twentieth-century artists. Starting with Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, and continuing up through Southern California artists of the 1960s and 70s, this tour foregrounds the role art and artists play in advancing social justice. The tour starts near the Diego Rivera painting, Flower Day, midway through our modern art galleries, on the third floor of the BCAM building.
