Teen art classes, designed especially for this age group, present fundamental approaches to art. Students learn a variety of techniques and develop their own styles.
Weekend Classes
Sketchbook
Five Saturdays, January 16, 23, 30, February 6, 13 | 11 am–1 pm
Use the drawing techniques of comic book artists found in the exhibition Heroes and Villains: The Battle for Good in India's Comics! Draw from life around you and learn how to construct a sketchbook by hand, using traditional bookbinding techniques and materials with artist Earnest Merritt.
NexGen and LACMA members $160; nonmembers $170

Stain Painting
Five Saturdays, February 20, 27, March 6, 13, 27 | 11 am–2 pm
Work with acrylic paints to experiment with "staining" techniques on unprimed canvas to create beautiful color-field paintings. Be inspired by the large-scale abstract works from the museum's permanent collection with artist Josh Peters.

No prior art-making experience is necessary.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Enrollment is limitedĀ to 12 participants.

All art supplies will be provided for the class.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes.

Refunds will only be granted if the class is canceled. Refunds cannot be given in the case of a missed class or if you elect to withdraw from the class after it has begun.
