Defining Decorative, Examining Design
November 17 |
Agenda
What is the impact of design on daily life? How is design defined across cultures and time periods? From a seventeenth-century Korean box with a traditional pictorial design to furniture and drawings from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, explore a cross-section of LACMA's permanent collection and consider the artistic process in relation to decorative arts and design.

Renoir after Impressionism
February 16
Explore Pierre-Auguste Renoir's career in the decades after impressionism, when he developed an artistic style informed by his personal aesthetic. Works of art by artists including Picasso, Matisse, and Bonnard will also be considered, to illustrate Renoir's influence on a younger generation of artists.
