October Muse Events

LACMA Muse was waiting for the leaves to change and the temperatures to drop before remembering we live in Los Angeles, where we don't have to put up with that nonsense. Instead, the sun continues to shine and Muse continues to roll. Check out our fall happenings, including the always blockbuster Muse Costume Ball!

Adrian is an avant-garde composer used to playing sparsely attended concerts featuring breaking glass and kicking buckets. His brother Josh is a painter of limited talent but a corporate following that ensures his works are hot items. Madeleine is a beautiful gallery owner with a personal interest in Adrian and a professional one in Josh. Together, along with a number of eccentric artists and collectors, they try to navigate the wild world of contemporary art in this satire by writer-director Jonathon Parker. See the trailer here.

Tickets are complimentary for Muse members and a guest. To RSVP, send an email with “Untitled screening” in the subject line to musersvp@lacma.org along with your email address and number in your party in the body. Seating is limited and spots on the list will be granted on a first come, first served basis.

The MuseCostume Ball has quickly emerged as one of Los Angeles's premier Halloween parties after just five years in existence, attracting more than 1,400 revelers for a night filled with art, music, drinks, and costumes. It's the costumes that steal the show as attendees come from all over the state with elaborate, often handmade ensembles in the hopes of getting an invite to compete in the costume contest for fabulous prizes.

This year get inspired by our exhibition Heroes and Villains: The Battle for Good in India's Comics, which takes a unique look at India's culture, its stories, and the comic book boom occuring there. Special guest Gotham Chopra will be taking guests on a multimedia journey to tell one of India's classic harrowing tales.

The Costume Ball takes place on Holloween itself this year, so make sure you buy your tickets early! Tickets are $25 for Muse members but will be increased to $30 after October 24. General public tickets are $50. Purchase here, by calling 323 857-6010, or at any of LACMA's Welcome Centers. This one will sell out!
