Nonny de la Peña and Alex Rivera developed a linear virtual reality experience based on a short story called Reaching the Shore, by Bonnie Hall and Davin Douma. Their aim was to push the limits of Virtual Reality storytelling technology and provoke critical thought about the issues of access and power in regards to technology.

Nonny de la Peña is an American journalist, award-winning documentary filmmaker, and entrepreneur. She is the founder and CEO of Emblematic Group, a digital media company focused on immersive virtual, mixed and augmented reality. De la Peña is widely credited with helping create the genre of immersive journalism.

Alex Rivera is a filmmaker who, for the past twenty years, has been telling new, urgent, and visually adventurous Latino stories. He’s been making work that illuminates two massive and parallel realities: the globalization of information through the internet, and the globalization of families, and communities, through mass migration.
