Art Camp 2024

Enrollment Procedures for Art Camp

  • Enrollment for Summer Art Camp will open online on April 17 at 1 pm.

  • Art Camp is designed for children ages 6 and older; children ages 5 and under will not be admitted. 

  • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited; camp does sell out.

  • Registration is only available online. Note: account sign-up and login is necessary.

  • If you do not have a LACMA account, set one up and test it prior to registering.

  • If you have a LACMA account, we recommend testing it out by logging in prior to registering.

  • Payment is required upon registration.

Information

In-Person Camp

  • Art materials and 30-minute parking validation are included in tuition.  

  • Art Camp hours are Monday through Friday, 10 am–3 pm, with some exceptions.

  • LACMA will offer extended care Monday through Thursday from 3–5 pm for art camp students for an additional fee.

  • Students must wear comfortable clothes and shoes (no flip flops or skate shoes).

  • A supervised one-hour lunch break is scheduled each day; please pack a nut-free lunch with beverage (no sodas, please) and snack every day.

  • If your child has any allergies or special needs, please notify the Art Class Coordinator prior to the Art Camp start date.

  • Personal items such as clothing and lunches should be labeled with the student’s name. No toys or games are permitted. We ask that students refrain from using cell phones during camp hours.

  • Need-based scholarships are available for students.

Cancellation Policy

A refund equal to half of tuition paid will be granted for cancellations made three weeks before camp start date. No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than three weeks prior to camp start date. Please notify us immediately of any cancellations so that a child on our waitlist can attend camp. Full refunds will only be granted if the program is canceled or for medical reasons. 

Parking

The Pritzker Parking Garage is accessible from 6th Street and Ogden Drive. Please bring your parking ticket for free parking validation.  

Please park and walk your child into the museum’s camp headquarters every day. Also, for the protection of your children, please inform us if you have made arrangements for another parent or caregiver to pick up or drop off your children for Art Camp.

Campers are introduced to a wide variety of materials and techniques to express themselves. The programming schedule for summer is currently under development.

Tuition for in-person art camp includes art materials and parking validation. In-person art camp will take place indoors and outdoors on LACMA's campus. Registration closes 10 days before each session. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Children Ages 6–8

6 days: June 13–14, 17–18, and 20–21 | 10 am–3 pm
Let’s Paint! (In-person, Indoors)
View paintings at LACMA and make the art of your dreams with acrylic paints on stretched canvas. This fun class is for kids who already love painting or want to learn; all skill levels are welcome. Taught by artist Rosanne Kleinerman.

Line, Color, and Shape (In-person, Outdoors)
Explore art on view at LACMA and discover how artists all over the world use lines, shape, and color to create unique and amazing art. Taught by artist Elly Dallas.

Animals and Plants (In-person, Indoors)
Explore how other artists have depicted animals and plants, be inspired by their colors and shapes, and create your own nature-themed artwork. Taught by artist Elly Dallas.

Art Around the World (In-person, Indoors + Outdoors)
Students will have a fun adventure engaging in and creating various art projects inspired by LACMA's diverse art collection, all while exploring different techniques and materials. Roll up your sleeves and get ready to dive into the fun world of art-making! Taught by artist Jesus Mascorro.

Collage=Upcycle (In-person, Outdoor)
View mixed media artworks from LACMA’s collection for inspiration and find ways to make art with different kinds of materials. Cut, paste, paint, build, repeat! All skill levels are welcome in this fun and lively class. Taught by artist Rosanne Kleinerman.

Develop a unique way of creating your own narrative through art. Inspired work on view in the exhibitions Simone Leigh and ED RUSCHA / NOW THEN, you'll be introduced to a variety of fun and engaging art-making techniques and projects: large-format accordion book, paper construction cutouts, drawing, and much more! Taught by artist Eszter Delgado.

Focus on Painting (In-person, Indoors)
View artworks from LACMA's collection to inspire your own art-making and explore the effects different materials can have on your painting. All skill levels are welcome in this fun and lively class. Taught by artist Rosanne Kleinerman.

3 days: July 1–3 | 10 am–3 pm
Making Sculptures (In-person, Outdoors)
This three-day class is packed with physical games, experiments, observations, note-taking, and art-making. Learn techniques for constructing sculptural wonders while exploring balance, symmetry, and movement. Taught by artist Shannon Green.

5 days: July 29–August 2 | 10 am–3 pm
Drawing Like a Scientist (In-person, Outdoors)
Explore art from the perspective of the natural sciences. In this class, we’ll connect with nature on the LACMA campus, examine nature-themed work in the museum’s collection, and focus on our representational drawing skills by practicing some of the rigorous techniques used by science illustrators throughout the ages. All levels are welcome. Taught by artist Stacey Vigallon.

Observe, Explore, Create (In-person, Outdoors)

Fundamentals of Drawing (In-person, Outdoors)
This engaging and fun class investigates personal expression through drawing. Throughout the week students will complete exercises to hone their skills to new and exciting levels. Taught by artist Bianca Argueta.

Experimental Photography and Film (In-person, Indoors + Outdoors)
Examine imagery and composition in photographs and learn how to create stop-motion moving images, a double exposure, and a portable camera obscura. Taught by artist Walter Vargas.
