Reporting to the Senior Conservator, Textiles, the Project Conservator, Textiles will be responsible for the conservation and restoration of textiles and costumes within the museum’s collection. This role involves planning and executing conservation projects, conducting condition assessments, and collaborating with curators and other museum staff to ensure the preservation of artworks. The Project Conservator will also contribute to research, documentation, and public outreach initiatives related to conservation. The Project Conservator is brought in as needed, to take on available conservation projects. This position is projected to end on June 30, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Perform condition assessments and treatment of textiles, costumes, and related works of art within the museum’s collection.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of conservation treatments, condition reports, photographic documentation, and any relevant research or findings. Ensures all documentation meets professional standards and museum protocols.
- Manage conservation projects from inception to completion, ensuring that work is completed within scope, time, and budgetary constraints.
- Prioritize and schedule conservation tasks based on the needs of the collection and project requirements.
- Provide consistent updates to the head of textile conservation.
- Work collaboratively with other conservators, museum staff, and external experts to coordinate conservation efforts and address specific project needs.
- Research materials and techniques used in artworks within the collection. Stay updated on advancements in conservation science and methodologies.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Conservation, with a focus on textile conservation preferred.

Reporting to the Budget Officer, the Financial Analyst provides reporting, control, and analytical support for finance and administrative functions at the museum.
Responsibilities
- Conducts research and performs analysis for the Finance office and the Museum in general.
- Assists with developing, analyzing, and controlling the Museum’s budget, monitoring to ensure efficient use of Museum resources

Accountant, Accounts Payable (Regular, Full-Time)

Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, Disbursement & G/L, the Accountant-Accounts Payable will be responsible for the day to day accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, performing weekly check runs, ACH payment processing, recording wire payments in accounting software, cutting off cycle emergency checks and maintaining/filing payment remittances and support.

Systems Administrator (Temporary, Full-Time)

Reporting to the Director of Information Services the Systems Administrator deploys and manages the Active Directory infrastructure in addition to maintaining and supporting the Active Directory domain controllers, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies and other related services. This is a 6 month temporary opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Implements and enforces security policies and access controls within the Active Directory
- Manages directory integration with SSO and third-party systems
- Documents and knowledges transfer for task execution by other departments

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Exhibitions, the Administrative Assistant supports a team of four that manages multiple exhibition projects and permanent collection rotations. Assistant General Counsel (Regular, Full-Time)
General Counsel's Office
Reporting to the General Counsel & Assistant Secretary the Assistant General Counsel provides direct counsel to staff in all departments as needed or assigned, and is responsible for identifying and analyzing legal issues, drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts and other documents, presenting clear written or oral recommendations, and assuring legal and ethical compliance across all of the Museum’s activities. This position will enable the legal department to manage the full range of the Museum's legal, policy and ethical needs and to support its operations and programming.

- Advises on all aspects of day-to-day legal, policy and ethical issues for the museum

Rights and Reproduction Assistant (Regular, Full-Time)
Rights and Reproduction Assistant
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Rights & Reproduction, the Rights & Reproductions, Assistant is responsible for ensuring LACMA has the appropriate permissions and photographic materials to reproduce. This includes works from the museum collection as well as exhibition-related works and materials reflected in LACMA publications, brochures, educational materials, exhibitions, mailings (print and digital), and on LACMA’s website, blog and social media.
Responsibilities

Facilities Coordinator (Temporary, Full-Time)
Facilities Engineering
Reporting to the Associate VP, Facilities the Facilities Coordinator manages buildings and equipment maintenance schedules, facilities systems regulatory tests and certifications, and supports the facilities team preparing for any upcoming work or project. Responsibilities
- Develops the preventive maintenance schedules, schedules differed maintenance and project works.
- Keeps track of corrective maintenance work orders and ensures timely completion. Supports the Facilities and Engineering teams in scheduling the work.
- Assists in sourcing, procuring, and scheduling resources to perform repairs and projects (material, equipment, contractors, etc.)
- Manages contracts and purchase orders, and processes invoices for the Facilities Department.

Associate Mountmaker (Regular, Part-Time)
Conservation Center
Reporting to the Mountmaking Manager of the Conservation center, the Associate Mountmaker is responsible for fabricating and installing the structures that safely support collections of artworks and artifacts while they are on exhibit. This is a hands-on opportunity with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. LACMA hosts numerous exhibitions, installations, and loans per year from its encyclopedic collection, and is dedicated to the acquisition, conservation, display, and interpretation of these objects.
Responsibilities
- Proficiency in metal fabrication using the following equipment: TIG welder, drill press, milling machine, grinders, oxy-acetylene torch, and bandsaw.
- Must possess accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of proper art handling protocols.
- Knowledge of Conservation practices and standards.
- Must be able to organize time and meet deadlines.
- Will be required to lift heavy objects at times.
- Excellent communication skills and a desire to work cooperatively with curators, art installers, and conservation staff.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Development the Associate Vice President of Corporate & Foundation Partnerships (AVP) will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on securing major gifts from corporations and foundations. This role will require a proven track record of building and managing relationships with high-level executives, cultivating new partnerships, and closing significant financial commitments ranging from $250,000 to $10,000,000+. This position will also have the opportunity to oversee and implement a multi-faceted sponsorship strategy for the opening of LACMA’s David Geffen Galleries. The AVP supervises the Corporate Partnerships Team composed of a Director, Manager and Administrative Assistant and the Foundation Partnerships team composed of a Senior Director, Manager and Coordinator.

CC Foundation and David Chau Fellow (Regular, Full-Time)
Director's Office
Reporting to the Executive Assistant & Director’s Office Fellow, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CC Foundation and David Chau Fellow to support the Director’s Office in aiding the museum’s global partnerships, as well as advancing scholarship, and supporting the development and collections management of our Asian diasporic art collection and programs, specifically that of artists of Chinese descent who have so long been overlooked. The position will have regular contact with staff at all levels, specifically the Chinese and Korean Art Curatorial Department and the Head of Director’s Strategic Initiatives, Asia in the Development Department, as well as contact with external stakeholders and the public. The fellow will gain valuable hands-on experience while contributing to the museum's goals and learning about the various aspects of curatorial work, collection management, and development. The CC Foundation and David Chau Fellow will also provide daily ongoing administrative support, including but not limited to tasks related to the Director’s schedule, correspondence, research, and communications. This position in the Director’s Office reports directly to the Executive Administrator and Fellow.
This is a limited term position and would have a projected end date of 2.5 years from the hire date.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Director’s Executive Assistant and Fellow, the CC Foundation and David Chau Fellow will be deeply committed to LACMA's mission of inclusive access, collaboration, and dialogue and will be encouraged to work with colleagues across LACMA's departments.
- Conduct research on the museum's collections, potential acquisitions, or specific artists and art movements. This may involve studying historical documents and academic literature and consulting with experts.
- Help with the care and documentation of the museum’s collection of Asian diasporic art. This includes updating records, cataloging new acquisitions, and ensuring proper storage and conservation practices.
- Serve as project liaison for acquisitions, collection management, and programming with the Director’s Office and participating stakeholders to ensure successful communication between all departments and global partners. Communicate with a wide range of stakeholders and participants by phone, email, and Zoom.
- Collaborate on creating educational materials and programs related to exhibitions and the museum’s collection. This can involve working with, but not limited to, the Education and Development departments to develop lectures, tours, and workshops for diverse audiences.
- Engage with the public through tours, talks, and social media. This may involve giving presentations or creating content that helps communicate the museum’s mission and exhibitions to visitors and donors.
- Consult and review materials for websites, digital initiatives, press and marketing materials, and education materials. Write and deliver summary reports on projects as needed.

Reporting to the Head Scientist, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), is offering a two-year research fellowship position in the Conservation Research laboratory (Projected End Date 8/31/2027, At-Will employment applies). The successful candidate will provide key scientific skills and expertise as part of the ‘Carbon Reduction for Art in Transit (CRAIT)’ project, funded by IMLS. This project research and test alternative and more sustainable packaging materials for art shipping with the goal to replace (where possible) the use of non-recyclable, non-environmentally friendly materials and reduce the carbon footprints of art crates.
CRAIT is an expansion of a previous pilot program, conducted at LACMA, where several crates were tested using different packing systems. The crates were tested with different shock and vibration parameters to evaluate the mitigation of the materials used and carbon footprints was also calculated.

The Associate position also provides outstanding visitor service while working within select exhibition spaces ensuring that museum policies and procedures are upheld and sharing important information pertaining to specific works of art. The Associate consistently presents a positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic attitude at all times while working with a variety of LACMA constituencies including the general public, members, donors, VIPs, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Actively demonstrates a guest-first attitude by exemplifying excellent internal and external guest service skills at all times
- Actively promotes, sells, and services the LACMA membership program
- Maintains a conversational knowledge of LACMA’s general policies and procedures, membership programs, and the exhibition and programming schedule
- Clearly and concisely explains certain aspects of visitor experience that pertain to specific works of art
- Assists visitors in the capacity of gallery support when required
- Shares factual and necessary information with colleagues, visitors and members via excellent written and verbal communications
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance
- Employee is required to attend various training sessions as scheduled
- Operates register and receives payment for ticket, membership and donation transactions while maintaining a strict attention to cash handling accuracy
- Escalate any guest service issues, complaints, or unanswerable questions to the Visitor Services Leadership team
- Performs other duties or projects as assigned

Qualifications
- At least two years of relevant experience in a high volume and customer service focused setting
- Background in Art History preferred
- Strong skills in ticketing software, preferably in Tessitura
- Basic math skills

Pyrolysis-Gas Chromatography Mass-spectrometry (Py-GCMS) Internship (Temporary Part-Time)
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
The Conservation Research lab at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has been expanding the analytical capability for years. Recently the lab was able to purchase a state of the art Py-GCMS.
Reporting to the Head Scientist, the intern will work with the newly acquired Py-GCMS. The intern will be creating a standard operating procedure for the instrument, which will be used by the staff and future scientists. Additionally, the intern will research sample preparation techniques to determine the best options for the type of work conducted in the lab. At the end of the internship a short demo of the Py-GCMS will be given to selected conservation staff.
This is a paid internship, 29 hours per week, $17.28 per hour.
Anticipated Internship period: 11/1/2024 - 3/28/2025

Exhibitions Paid-Internship (Temporary, Part-Time)
BACKGROUND
The Exhibitions Department manages all changing exhibitions and permanent collection installations on the LACMA campus, as well as many traveling exhibitions around the world. The position is designed to expose the intern to various aspects of exhibition planning and implementation.
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
The Exhibitions Intern will work alongside and be mentored by staff who possess direct expertise in the intern's responsibilities and interests. The primary project envisioned for this internship is to,
- Support the development of a standardized digital file structure and best practices to manage all exhibition preparation and production documents
- Learn to develop a comprehensive physical archive for in-house and traveling exhibitions and installations from the last decade
- Lean to track exhibition proposals and attendance figures
- Assist with correspondence, exhibition budget development, and other projects as needed.
- Gain experience with stages of the exhibition planning process, The Museum System (TMS), and the tracking and maintenance of institutional records through certain projects
This is a paid internship, 16 hours per week, $17.28 per hour.

Registrations & Collections Paid-Internship (Temporary Part-Time)
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
The Registration Department creates and maintains the official records for all of the objects in the LACMA collections or on loan to the museum. The internship program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn about projects related to documenting the permanent collection, inventorying and cataloguing objects, incoming and outgoing loans and exhibitions. The intern will be exposed to all areas of registration.
- This is a paid internship 14 hours per week or less, $17.28 per hour

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate program from the following majors: museum studies, art history, art, anthropology, archaeology, history, and library science.

Volunteering is a unique form of philanthropy: a gift of unrestricted time and expertise to the museum. Volunteering provides a means for members to bond over shared artistic passions, and participate in group tours, lectures, receptions and travel. There are a number of ways to give of your time to help LACMA.
Museum Service Council
The Museum Service Council provides support to museum administrative staff, curators, and educational and family programs. Our volunteers work in the libraries, the Welcome Center, and the Boone Children's Gallery, help staff Family Day activities, act as hosts for special events, and assist in the museum stores. As a benefit, council members receive special invitations to private exhibition tours, activities and lectures with eminent curators.
The volunteer selection and training process occurs as needed, usually once per year. Stay tuned to this page for updates.
Docent Council
Members of the Docent Council engage with visitors of all ages through guided tours and casual dialogue to make works of art accessible for all. We are committed to inclusivity, access, and equity, and we believe that the Docent Council should represent the diversity of Los Angeles.
An art background is not required in order to be a docent. Prospective docents should have an interest in learning about art, working with audiences of all ages and backgrounds, and facilitating positive museum experiences. In addition to working with visitors, docents enjoy an extensive program of continuing education provided by staff members and local experts. Members of the Docent Council perform a unique form of philanthropy by donating their time in a way that supports LACMA and the visitors it serves.
