Explore art from the perspective of the natural sciences. In this class, we’ll connect with nature on the LACMA campus, examine nature-themed work in the museum’s collection, and learn techniques used by science illustrators throughout the ages. Taught by artist Stacey Vigallon.
Monday–Friday, June 20–24
Outdoors on the Resnick Terrace
Stacey Vigallon is an environmental educator, biologist, and science illustrator. She is keenly interested in the intersection of conservation, community-based projects, and science communication. She loves leading art-science workshops for people of all ages, from third graders to medical students to teachers. She holds a BS in Wildlife Management from Cal Poly Humboldt, where she also minored in art and was part of the Honors Painting Program. She completed her MS in Wildlife Science from the University of Washington and then the UC Santa Cruz Science Communication Graduate Program with an emphasis in science illustration. She received her EdD from UCLA, focusing her dissertation on nature and transdisciplinary learning. Stacey is gleefully nerdy.
