For a century, the cover of The New Yorker has amused, provoked, and captured the spirit of the times. As the magazine's art editor for over three decades, Françoise Mouly has guided that iconic format into new territory, treating covers as comments on current affairs and expanding its range with a roster of world-famous illustrators. In her new book, Mouly presents hundreds of covers charting the magazine's visual evolution decade by decade, spotlighting artists from Saul Steinberg and Roz Chast to Kara Walker and David Hockney.
