Stanley Kubrick's science fiction masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) not only redefined the genre, but also features some of the era’s most iconic set designs and depictions of the future.
This cinematic vision of design and technology in the space age is presented alongside the exhibition Home of the Future, 1925–1985: Designing Domestic Utopias, which traces how the American home of tomorrow was imagined, packaged, and sold, and examines the era’s future-facing fantasies that shaped media like 2001: A Space Odyssey.
