FILM at LACMA presents classic and contemporary narrative and documentary films, artists and their influences, emerging auteurs, international showcases, special guest-curated programs, and conversations with artists and special guests.
LACMA members are invited to join FILM at LACMA for a special screening of Genius: MLK/X, followed by a conversation with actors Kelvin Harrison Jr., Aaron Pierre, Weruche Opia, and Jayme Lawson; director Channing Godfrey Peoples; executive producers and showrunners Raphael Jackson, Jr. and Damione Macedon; executive producers Reggie Rock Bythewood and Gina Prince-Bythewood; writer Jeff Stetson; and Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer.
Genius: MLK/X focuses on iconic civil rights era geniuses Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. Exploring their formative years and pioneering accomplishments with their formidable wives Coretta Scott King and Betty Shabazz leading by their sides, King and X are two visionaries who ultimately rose to pioneer a movement.
