Celebrate L.A.'s finest jazz musicians with Jazz at LACMA, presented Friday evenings from May through October. This week, join us for a concert with Justo Almario.
The legendary saxophonist, clarinetist, flutist and composer returns to LACMA with his latest project, Alegrías de Coco y Anís. The Colombian-born musician was discovered by Mongo Santamaria, who hired him as music director for his band. Other notable collaborations included Roy Ayers, Charles Mingus, Cachao, and Herb Alpert. His style is a fusion of jazz, South American, and other world rhythms which are a reflection of his own elegant yet humble style. Recently, Justo was featured in the soundtrack for the Disney's film Encanto.
