Celebrate L.A.’s finest jazz musicians with Jazz at LACMA, presented Friday evenings from May through October.
This week, join us for a concert with the Los Angeles Jazz Treasure Award—Dr. Bobby Rodriguez.
LACMA and the Los Angeles Jazz Society salute are pleased to present the annual L.A. Jazz Treasure Award to trumpeter, composer, producer and educator Dr. Bobby Rodriguez. Born in East L.A., Dr. Rodriguez has devoted his life to help promote music. As a professor, he has served as Director of LatinJazz and trumpet at UCLA and UC Irvine and was a leader for the LA Jazz Society’s yearly “Jazz Goes to School” and the Music Center’s Jazz Adventure programs. As a recording artist, the Grammy Award nominated trumpeter has worked with such diverse musicians as Lalo Schifrin, Maurice White, Gerald Wilson, Candi Sosa, and many others, in addition to his twelve recordings as a leader.
Jazz at LACMA is free and open to all. Seating is limited and first come, first served. Visitors are encouraged to wear face masks in all indoor spaces including restrooms.
