Spend your Saturday evenings with world-renowned artists performing everything from Indigenous music to the latest sounds from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and Los Angeles! These free concerts are presented Saturday evenings from Memorial Day weekend in May to Labor Day weekend in September. This week, join us for a concert with Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loco.

Vocalist and bandleader Ricardo Lemvo founded Makina Loco in 1990 and has established himself as a pioneer with his innovative music. Lemvo's blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms with pan-African styles (soukous, Angolan semba, and kizomba) has been described by the Los Angeles Times as “seamless and infectious.” Lemvo grew up in Congo-Kinshasa where he was introduced to Cuban music by a cousin who owned a large collection of vintage Cuban LPs. Lemvo is the embodiment of the Afro-Latin diaspora, which connects back to Mother Africa via the Cuban clave rhythm.
