LACMA Surpasses $750 Million Campaign Fundraising Goal

(Los Angeles, CA—August 22, 2023) Michael Govan, CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, announced today that the Building LACMA campaign has reached and exceeded its fundraising goal of $750 million. The campaign is funding construction of the David Geffen Galleries, the museum's new home for its diverse, global, and historic collections, which is now more than 65% complete and spans Wilshire Boulevard. In addition to the County of Los Angeles and David Geffen, major contributors to the historic public-private partnership include LACMA board of trustees co-chair Elaine Wynn, the W.M. Keck Foundation, LACMA's board of trustees, and many other donors from a wide range of industries and creative communities. Among the series of generous gifts that put LACMA over the $750 million goal, the largest was from LACMA trustee and major donor Steve Tisch. The David Geffen Galleries, which will be owned by the County of Los Angeles, is funded 80% by private donations and 20% by the County, representing a landmark collaboration.
