Jazz at LACMA: Janis Mann

  • Date:
  • Time: 6 PM – 8 PM
  • Location: Smidt Welcome Plaza
  • Price: Free

Celebrate L.A.'s finest jazz musicians with Jazz at LACMA, presented Friday evenings from May through October. This week, join us for a concert with Janis Mann.

At once both a striking song stylist and a fearless improviser, vocalist Janis Mann is that rare artist who can sweep you away with her captivating sound. She is a true jazz singer in the manner of Carmen McRae, Betty Carter, and Shirley Horn, with a sound all her own. In addition to working with the great pianist Kenny Werner on three outstanding recording projects, Janis has performed with Diane Schuur, Roy Haynes, Terrell Stafford, John Clayton, Ernie Watts, and a host of other jazz luminaries. Her distinguished discography spans nine acclaimed albums and is a radio and streaming mainstay. Janis is a Los Angeles favorite and performs often in New York, notably at the Blue Note, Mezzrow, and Dizzy's.

This week's food trucks: Fresh Pizza on Wheels and Kreung Kitchen.
