Join us for an evening of art and storytelling in this StorySLAM co-produced with The Moth, the acclaimed storytelling nonprofit. StorySLAM is a community-focused, open-mic storytelling competition in which anyone can share a five-minute story on the night’s theme.
The theme “Nostalgia” is a nod to the exhibition Yoshitomo Nara. Nara is among the most beloved Japanese artists of his generation. Nara's work reflects the raw encounters with his inner self, taking inspiration from childhood memories and passion for music, an interest he cultivated since age nine.
Story Prompt—Nostalgia:
Prepare a five-minute story that turns back the hands of time. Tales of your childhood home, first friend, or dusty old mixtape. A trip to a specific time or place, compliments of a song or scent. Sentimental longing or a blast from the past. Heartbreaking or heartwarming, it's time to stroll down memory lane.
Different Ways to Attend the Show:
Admission*: A ticket for your household to watch the show!
Admission + Storyteller**: A ticket for your household that includes a storytelling hopeful. Purchase a ticket using the storyteller's information to have their name put in the hat! The host will draw eight names out of the hat to be the night’s tellers.
* By registering for this event, you agree to allow your email address to be shared with The Moth.
** If you're registering as a storyteller, please come prepared to be featured on camera, including adequate lighting and minimal background noise. If selected to tell a story, please stand if you're able to do so. Visit The Moth website for storytelling tips and tricks.
