Explore art from the perspective of the natural sciences! In this camp, we’ll connect with nature on the LACMA campus, examine nature-themed work in the museum’s collection, and focus on our representational drawing skills by practicing some of the rigorous techniques used by science illustrators throughout the ages. All levels are welcome. Taught by artist Stacey Vigallon.
This program will take place outdoors on LACMA's campus, Monday–Friday, June 26–30.
About the Instructor
Stacey Vigallon is an environmental educator, biologist, and science illustrator. She is keenly interested in the intersection of conservation, community-based projects, and science communication. She loves leading art-science workshops for people of all ages, from third-graders to medical students to teachers. She holds a BS in Wildlife Management from Cal Poly Humboldt, where she also minored in art and was part of the Honors Painting Program. She completed her MS in Wildlife Science from the University of Washington and then the UC Santa Cruz Science Communication Graduate Program with an emphasis in science illustration. She received her EdD from UCLA, focusing her dissertation on nature and transdisciplinary learning. Stacey is gleefully nerdy.
Masks are strongly recommended indoors for everyone. Learn more about all of the museum's health and safety protocols.
